Resident to Open First LED Source® Franchise in the State of Texas
(Austin, TX)--- Garrett Miles is a fifth-generation Austinite, whose family has lived in the city for over 100 years. With his roots grounded firmly in the Austin community, Miles will open the area’s first LED Source® franchise, supplying high-quality LED lighting products and specializing in full-scale evaluations and retrofits in both commercial and residential properties, with his father-in-law John Pursley on July 1. Located at 201 S RR 620 S. in Austin, LED Source will service Williamson, Hays and Travis Counties, and surrounding areas.
“I know the community response to LED Source will be great,” says Miles. “Austin is a progressive thinking, eco-friendly, tech savvy city and bringing a company that focuses solely on LED lighting projects using products from the top LED lighting manufacturers is just what this city needs.”
Miles received his degree in Industrial and Construction Technology from Texas State University in 2007. After graduation, he worked as a project manager and on-site superintendent for a high-end general contractor, building everything from million-dollar homes to commercial renovations. When the construction industry began to slow, he looked for other opportunities where he could apply his industry knowledge and training. When he found LED Source, he knew he had found his next career.
“LED Source is the perfect next step for me, my family and my career,” said Miles. “My background and training have prepared me with tools that I needed to start my own company and take my expertise to the next level. Using energy efficient lighting and other green building materials for homes and businesses is on the rise. It’s a great time to debut LED Source to the community and offer property owners and builders in the area a go-to location for all their LED needs.”
LED (light-emitting diode) lighting is the most energy-efficient lighting solution currently available that is both fiscally smart and ecologically sound when compared to both incandescent and compact fluorescent lighting (CFL). A recent study by the Department of Energy estimated that LEDs could reduce national energy consumption for lighting by up to 30 percent in the next 13 years, saving the U.S. $125 billion on electric bills and positively impacting environmental initiatives.
While LED lighting can cost more than incandescent and fluorescent lights – requiring a higher initial investment – businesses will often see the payback in just a year or two. The availability of federal tax incentives and local utility rebates for qualifying LED retrofit projects that can cover anywhere between 30 to 100 percent of the cost of LED lighting provides an even stronger incentive.
“Whether you realize it or not, there is a lighting revolution going on,” said Miles. “After meeting with the LED Source team, I knew I wanted to be part of that revolution. Their knowledge, experience and proven track record sealed the deal and I’m beyond excited to start educating the public on the benefits of energy efficient lighting.”
LED Source is the first and only franchisor of LED lighting in North America, representing only the top manufacturers in LED lighting while providing expertise in energy-saving retrofits. The company expects to sign 30 franchise agreements in 2012, working towards building a network of 150 total offices by 2015.
