About three years after founding a successful company that distributes LED lighting products, Marcel Fairbairn was in conversation with a fellow businessman as he traveled from Florida to his vacation home in the Canadian Rockies.
The man told Fairbairn he was a stockholder of a leading producer of LED lighting – for whom Fairbairn was a top distributor – because he believed the energy-efficient, eco-friendly lighting would eventually replace all traditional lighting. The only problem was finding a place to buy the products, "If you want to make an impact, you need to find a way to open locations in every city in the country," he told Fairbairn.
