LED Source Nominates Five Lucky Participants for LED Lighting Makeover
(Wellington, Fla.)---In October 2011, LED Source® launched the LEDko Challenge, a Facebook contest that asked all staging, studio, installation and corporate theater professionals throughout North America to submit a video of their lackluster lighting system to be considered for a complete LED lighting upgrade. The contest winner will receive a package worth over $20,000 that includes eight Reflection LEDko fixtures by Coemar. Five finalists have been selected by a panel of experts and now voting is underway on the company’s Facebook page under the LEDko Challenge Contest tab. (http://www.facebook.com/reflectionledko)
The grand prize winner will be chosen on Tuesday, January 31. The finalist with the most votes will win.
“We have received dozens of videos from across the country and it’s clear that many organizations are in dire need of a lighting makeover,” says Dean Ernst, director of marketing for LED Source. “We’ve watched each and every video submission and have chosen five participants who have demonstrated their current lighting problem through the use of a creative video. We’re looking forward to unveiling the winner later this month.”
The five finalists include Princeton Friend School in Princeton, N.J.; Boston Latin School in Boston, Mass.; Cincinnati Shakespeare Theater in Cincinnati, Ohio; Capital City Charter Public School in Washington D.C.; and Anthony Cools, a performer in Las Vegas.
Reflection LEDko is a revolutionary new LED fixture and the first LED profile delivering both Soft Profile and Hard Edge Profile using mix and match optics. With this new technology, Coemar has created the first LED profile capable of projecting soft-edged profile light with no reduction in light intensity due to additional filters. It is also the first LED profile that can be used in the same way as traditional profiles and can obtain any color tone, shade and white light.
Applying the Reflection LED technology as a retrofit makes it possible to reduce energy consumption from 500-650 Watts to 150 Watts. The LED lamps last up to 50,000 hours without loss of brightness, thus eliminating maintenance costs associated with traditional profiles.
Because LEDs do not emit heat, Reflection LEDko is capable of utilizing images or gobos created with any standard printer and a transparency sheet. This technology allows you to project any image such as a corporate logo quickly and without cost, while also eliminating the entire gobo buying process, which was previously dependant on glass or metal patterns.
Reflection LEDko is one fixture that can virtually eliminate or significantly reduce all costs related to lamps, dimmers, scrollers, gel filters, heat, cabling, electricity and manpower. All LEDko series fixtures feature electronic 16-bit dimming, flicker-free operation with DMX controllable LED frequency from 500 to 5000 Hz and a bi-directional DMX512.
